Dynamic Print Publishing

Overview

Desktop publishing (DTP) revolutionised the publishing process in that it enabled content to be created and prepared digitally before going to print. Further developments in digital publishing technology now offer the possibility of publishing dynamic data and automating various aspects of DTP. Full publications can now be produced from a variety of data sources and made print ready with minimal or no user intervention.

How it works

Content is imported, authored and managed at a granular level as components or fragments in a single source. Selected content is then formatted automatically using rules, templates and style sheets. The resulting document can be sent to print or refined further using tools such as Adobe InDesign, Quark or Arbortext Dynamic Publisher.

Benefits

  • Reduced DTP costs
  • Improved accuracy
  • Save content authoring time (dynamic data, other formats)
  • Enable multi-channel publishing
  • Save time and create additional value through content re-use
